The long awaited second edition of Collins Bird Guide is now here. Covering Britain and Europe, the second edition has been update and revamped. Distribution maps have been updated allowing for recent bird movements; the text has been expanded and new illustrations have been included - There are now 3500 illustrations!
713 species are covered in the main section, with shorter details of 59 occasional visitors, 32 alien species that now breed, and 118 rare stragglers from elsewhere that have been recorded. There are bird guides that cover more details on British birds, and other, much larger, guides that cover the same area, but none that we are aware of that provide such width and breadth of information in such a compact manner.
Most people who are interested in birds should have a copy of this on their bookshelves, or in their bag.
