Quill garden bird drinker and feeder
Transmission of infection between birds is most likely to be by birds feeding one another with regurgitated food during the breeding season and/or through an infected environment - particularly contamination of bird drinkers by the agent (fresh saliva from an infected bird).
The Quill bird drinker gets around this problem with a 'nipple drinker' system, which provides clean, hygenic water to garden birds. The Quill feeder and drinker could use some design work as it isn't a work of art, but it provides fresh water all year round to your birds, as well as having two seed or nut containers to feed them with.
It has been very popular in the Wildife Extra garden. It did take the birds a few weeks to work out where to find the water (There has been plenty lying about in puddles for them recently) and they aren't particularly concerned that it isn't a great masterpiece of sculpture.
The Quill drinker is now available for the very special price of £15 from Quill, click here.
Proof that it works. This shot was taken in the Wildlife Extra Garden
